Time-saving tips for moms
You only have so much time in the day, and as a mom, you want that time to be spent with your baby, not cleaning dishes or folding clothes. But since those things have to be done, here are some ideas to help you save time on housework and errands so you can spend more time with your baby:
- Enlist help. Whether it’s changing a diaper or emptying the dishwasher, ask your partner or other family members for help. It’s okay to admit that there are times when you can’t keep up.
- Simplify. Prepare fast-fix meals or order carryout. Buy wrinkle-free clothing. Wherever you can, cut corners on everyday tasks.
- Don’t be a perfectionist. Let the little things go and remember that along with a baby comes a little chaos, but that’s okay. Do your baby’s clothes have to be changed if a little juice gets onto her collar? Do you need to cook when you’ve had a hectic day?
- Do several things at once. Double up your efforts. Fold laundry while you talk on the phone. Put away dishes while the spaghetti noodles are boiling.
- Eliminate time-wasting habits. Don’t drive to the post office if you can place outgoing mail in your box. Consider not driving all over town to find the cheapest gas.
- Keep your energy up. Get enough sleep and eat small snacks so you have energy to get things done. If you’re tired, tasks will take longer and you’ll end up being frustrated.
- Get help, if necessary. If you or your partner just can’t seem to get the floors scrubbed or the lawn cut, hire someone.
