Socializing your baby
Your baby is a social being from day one. By this age, you’ve probably been out and about several times together—to see the doctor, run errands or visit with family and friends. For your baby, each of these outings is an exciting opportunity to learn more about the world. For you, it’s a chance to foster her learning.
Talk to your baby about whatever the two of you are doing. Well before she can talk, your baby is already picking up speech sounds and word forms. Listening to you helps her learn to communicate and helps lay the foundation for later speech development.
Expose your baby to a variety of settings. New experiences help your baby learn how to connect with others and find her place in the social world.
