Prenatal Nutrition
Strong food aversions are common during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. Although the list of aversions is varied, typical foods include caffeinated drinks and meats. For the most part these aversions are more interesting than serious.
When the aversion is to a nutritious food, try substituting preference for preference. For example if you can’t stand the sight of fish or chicken, try another protein-rich food such as tofu. Or try disguising the food by mixing small amounts into a casserole or a stir-fry dish. If beta-carotene-rich dark green leafy vegetables are on your aversion list, try eating more beta-carotene-rich vegetables like carrots or sweet potatoes. Or try fruits such as peaches and apricots.
