How do I provide the nutrition my toddler needs?
Nutritious food choices are important—toddlers have smaller tummies so every bite counts. A healthy introduction to solid foods may help ensure normal growth and weight gain while promoting the development of healthy eating habits. Nestlé sponsored the nationwide Feeding Infants and Toddlers Study in 2008 and found on any given day that many toddlers:
- Don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables
- Don’t consume adequate potassium
- Don’t eat enough of the recommended amount of total fat
- Don’t get enough fiber and vitamin E
Offer your toddler smart food choices. Choose nutrient-dense foods such as fruits, vegetables, lean meats, healthy oils, dairy, and whole grains.
