Choosing a Formula

Question

Should I add an older-baby formula to my baby’s diet?

Answer

Breastmilk or an iron-fortified formula provides adequate nutrition for a baby's first year. As your active older baby transitions to solid foods, it may be difficult to get her to slow down long enough to eat a balanced diet.

That's why you may want to consider adding an older-baby formula such as GERBER® GOOD START 2 Gentle or GERBER® GOOD START 2 Soy to your older baby's or toddler's diet. Both are specially designed to meet the changing nutritional needs of older babies and toddlers 9 to 24 months old—especially when there's a gap between what they eat and what they need. GOOD START 2 Gentle or GOOD START 2 Soy provides:

  • more than twice as much calcium as standard milk-based formulas to support rapidly growing bones, teeth, and the nervous system1
  • more of important nutrients like iron, vitamins C and E, and zinc than whole milk
  • the gentleness of proteins that have been broken down to be easy to digest
  • DHA & ARA, nutrients found in breastmilk that support babies’ brain and eye development
