Question
How should I mix baby cereal?
Answer
When you mix cereal for your baby’s first feeding, mix about one tablespoon of single-grain cereal with four to five tablespoons of breastmilk or iron-fortified formula. Your baby’s first bite of “solids” should look more like thin milk.
You may want to offer a first taste of runny infant cereal by putting a dab of it onto your baby's lip with a soft, small spoon. When you place a sample into your baby's mouth, don't be surprised if that first taste pops right back out onto her tongue. It's a natural reflex. Eventually your baby will swallow more than she spits out.
