Benefits of serving your baby a rainbow of colors
Nutrition experts recommend that older babies eat at least five fruits and vegetables every day. How can you make sure your baby gets enough? Offer a rainbow of colorful foods by serving a fruit and/or a vegetable at each meal and snack.
Eating fruits and vegetables of different colors ensures a broad range of nutrients. Plus, recent research shows that infants who have early eating experiences with a variety of fruits and vegetables are more likely to eat fruits and vegetables later when they begin making their own choices.
At first, your baby may only eat small amounts as she’s getting used to the taste of fruits and vegetables. Let her hunger and fullness cues indicate how much she’s ready for and when she’s had enough. See your baby’s hunger and fullness cues.

The variety of fruits and vegetables your baby eats when he’s school age may be affected by the length of time you breastfeed, your baby’s early food-related experiences, and your food preferences.
