Eating well during pregnancy is one of the most important things you can do to for a healthy pregnancy. A good and nutritious diet during pregnancy helps maintain your own good health as your body adjusts to the changes pregnancy brings.

Your diet during pregnancy may be influenced by a number of things. You may have a preexisting condition, such as diabetes, or your own food preferences, like being a vegetarian, which all influence what you will eat.

Medical conditions, like gestational diabetes, can develop during pregnancy and may require diet changes that are completely new to you. Some women experience food cravings or bouts of queasiness during pregnancy, and these have to be managed within a healthy eating plan as well.
